MASSY, France  CGG has started work on its new Foz do Amazonas 3D seismic reimaging project, designed to support Brazil’s Permanent Offer initiative in the Equatorial Margin.

The industry funding program should be completed by the end of the year, with fast-track products available by June.

It involves merging more than 7,700 sq km of current 3D seismic data over the Foz do Amazonas Basin, an area with a network of turbiditic fans and channels, close to the prolific basins off Guyana and Suriname.

Dechun Lin, executive vice president of Earth Data at CGG, said, “By applying our…imaging technology, such as our… time-lag FWI, our experts in our Rio Subsurface Imaging center will deliver ultramodern high-resolution images for a better understanding of the untapped potential of the vastly underexplored Equatorial Margin.”
