LONDON  Geophysical and survey works have finished for this year at the site of the Salamander floating offshore wind project, 35 km from Peterhead, eastern Scotland.

Ocean Infinity conducted the offshore survey using the Northern Franklin vessel for Salamander, a joint venture between Simply Blue Group, Ørsted and Subsea7.

The scope covered reconnaissance of the offshore array area and export cable route using geophysical and benthic habitat survey techniques, with the aim of establishing a baseline ground model that will be further developed as the project matures.

The partners aim to progress the project through the innovation track of Crown Estate Scotland’s Innovation and Targeted Oil and Gas (INTOG) leasing round.

This will grant seabed leases through a bidding process for smaller scale innovation projects of less than 100 MW and for larger projects linked to oil and gas infrastructure.
