BERGEN, Norway – Equinor has awarded Shearwater GeoServices a 4D ocean bottom node (OBN) baseline survey in the Norwegian North Sea.
The two-month program, due to start early this summer, will cover the Krafla, Askja and Sentral fields.
Shearwater will deploy over 7,000 nodes, using an ocean bottom `nodes-on-a-rope’ system for the 363-sq km (140-sq mi) receiver area, from the seismic vessels SW Vespucci, SW Cook and SW Tasman.
The three vessels are designed for multiple applications including source, streamer surveys, and ocean bottom receiver deployment.
Shearwater says that it will be the largest project of its type that the company has performed to date.
