BERGEN, Norway – Equinor has contracted Shearwater GeoServices to perform a second 4D seismic monitoring survey over the Mariner field in the UK’s East Shetland offshore basin.
The one-month program will take place this summer.
Time-lapse seismic surveys help maximize production by providing subsurface data to update reservoir modeling and production simulations.
Shearwater will deploy its Isometrix multi-component towed streamer technology.
The seismic streamer combines standard hydrophone (P) measurements with two accelerometer sensors recording the seismic pressure gradient in the vertical (z) and cross cable (y) directions.
Multi-component measurements (Pzy) enable 3D receiver de-ghosting, providing deeper insight into the Earth’s complexity, the company claims.
