BERGEN, Norway – Norske Shell has awarded OCTIO, a subsidiary of Reach Subsea, a multi-year geophysical monitoring contract for the deepwater gas-condensate Ormen Lange field in the Norwegian Sea.
The contract extends OCTIO’s co-operation with Norske Shell through January 2026, with extension options.
It deploys its proprietary gWatch service to deliver gravimetry and seabed subsidence measurements. Last year’s gWatch survey was the seventh at the Ormen Lange field: Norske Shell applies results to refine its field recovery strategy and increase gas production.
The surveys are said to complement or replace 4D seismic, allowing clients to reduce the frequency of, or even remove the need for 4D surveys, as well as improving reservoir management, and optimizing subsea infrastructure.
