OSLO, Norway – A consortium of TGS, CGG, and BGP have signed a multi-client agreement with Suriname’s state oil company Staatsolie.

This grants the trio permission to acquire, promote, and license multi-client seismic programs in shallow-water acreage offshore Suriname, including new 3D acquisition and legacy data reprocessing.

The area covered includes three recently awarded blocks: currently open acreage should be offered under a competitive bid round planned for 2023.

According to TGS, the new seismic data from the consortium’s various programs should help bidders delineate the prospectivity in this little explored area, and is on trend with recent discoveries made by TotalEnergies/APA Corp. on offshore block 58.

Acquisition of new 3D data in the shallow offshore area could start during the current quarter, with first products available during H1 2022.

BGP Offshore will deploy its 3D vessel BGP Prospector for Phase 1 of the project.
