OSLO, Norway – PGS has issued details of its latest FSB Vision rejuvenation project west of Shetland. Data should be delivered in summer 2022.
The area is said to have a complex structural and geological history, with multiple petroleum plays but also features that hamper subsurface imaging based on reflection seismic data.
Evaluation of the plays should benefit from merging and modern reprocessing of nine conventional and GeoStreamer 3D seismic surveys.
Processing will include noise and artifact removing steps and full waveform inversion-based depth conversion.
Imaging of subtle traps hosting Paleocene sand reservoirs on the Flett Basin flank and the Cretaceous section of the Corona Ridge should both benefit from new insights.
PGS is targeting a total of 16,000 sq km (6,178 sq mi) of reprocessed 3D seismic to extend production toward this less explored part of the Faroe Shetland basin.
