OSLO, Norway ā€“ PGS will use the Ramform Tethys for a 3D exploration program offshore Egypt commissioned by an unnamed supermajor.

The vessel will operate in an extended long offset (ELO) configuration, towing a wide multi-sensor GeoStreamer spread with an additional source vessel located several kilometers ahead.

According to PGS, this arrangement should support recording of offsets up to 16 km (9.9 mi), said to be key to imaging deeper and complex exploration targets.

The source vessel will tow a specially designed low frequency source.

ELO, the company claimed, is a cost-competitive and efficient configuration compared to other solutions for imaging deep targets.
