LONDON – Deltic Energy has received processed 3D seismic data from Shell over the Pensacola Zechstein Reef gas prospect in license P2252 in the UK southern North Sea.

The broadband, pre-stack depth migration package includes the new Bluewater seismic data, which Shell acquired in August 2019, merged with reprocessed legacy 3D data.

According to Deltic, application of proprietary processing technologies has delivered a sharp image of Pensacola, and the partners will now update their interpretation of the structure in the run-up to a contingent well commitment becoming firm on Dec. 1, 2020.

The Pensacola Reef is said to be a significant undrilled structure thought to be analogous to the Ossian prospect tested by the Darach Central-1 well, 45 km (28 mi) to the east, via a well drilled and tested by ONE Dyas in 2019.

High-quality reservoirs could be present within Zechstein carbonates, Deltic added.

Under a farm-out agreement with Shell, the latter will carry 100% of Deltic’s costs including seismic acquisition, processing, and technical workflows to support a well investment decision.
