    CGG teams with Alibaba for geoscience software deployments

    MASSY, France – CGG GeoSoftware has collaborated with Alibaba Cloud to deploy proprietary geoscience software solutions on the Alibaba Cloud platform.

    The company added that all applications across the full GeoSoftware portfolio also run on the Azure and AWS cloud platforms, providing machine learning and artificial intelligence capabilities and connections to Python ecosystem notebooks.

    According to research/advisory company Gartner, Alibaba Cloud is the world’s third largest cloud service provider in the world, and number one in the Asia/Pacific region.

    CGG GeoSoftware provides reservoir characterization, interpretation and rock physics modeling solutions such as Jason, HampsonRussell, InsightEarth, PowerLog, and RockSI.

    Initial pilot studies, the company says, have shown that using Jason Workbench software on Alibaba Cloud can improve computing efficiency markedly compared to use of the same software on local compute resources.
