TRONDHEIM, Norway – Electromagnetic Geoservices (EMGS) has a letter of intent to acquire a controlled source electromagnetic (CSEM) survey for an unnamed joint venture offshore Namibia.

Under the terms of the data licensing agreement, the survey parameters and license fee should be determined by the end of 1Q. The customer will pre-fund the new multi-client CSEM data acquisition in the Walvis basin which will use EMGS’ DeepBlue, deep-towed source, developed under a joint industry project with Shell and Equinor.

In addition, EMGS will provide data processing, inversion with 3D Gauss-Newton and integrated interpretation services. Pending regulatory permits and an environmental clearance certificate, the survey should start between May 1 and Aug. 1, 2020 using the vessel Atlantic Guardian.

EMGS CEO Bjørn Petter Lindhom said: “We continue to engage with customers with a view to further expand the planned data coverage to provide a… CSEM dataset extending between the Walvis and Orange basins, where several high impact, deepwater exploration wells are planned in 2020.”
