Ithaca starts up second-phase polymer injection into North Sea Captain wells
Ithaca Energy has issued updates on its current greenfield and brownfield developments offshore the UK in a trading update.
Recent highlights at the Equinor-operated Rosebank project west of Shetland include the completion of an extensive subsea campaign, with all nine subsea structures installed ahead of schedule.
In parallel, modifications to the former Knarr FPSO continued at Drydocks World in Dubai.
Ithaca has completed a technical FEED study for electrification of the Captain field facilities in the central UK North Sea, although FID remains subject to fiscal and market conditions.
However, the Captain Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) Phase II project has gone ahead on plan and within budget, with first polymer injection into the subsea wells starting in May.
Other workstreams at the field include rig recertification, in support of a topside drilling campaign that is due to begin shortly. Remedial work is in progress to address reliability improvements following unplanned production trips.
The W1 well workover at the Erskine gas field in the same region has reinstated the fifth production well, although compressor issues at the host Lomond complex have impacted Erskine’s overall performance.
Shell has restored the Pierce field to full production after resuming operations on the FPSO.
West of Shetland, bp is working to restore full production capacity from the Glen Lyon FPSO at the Schiehallion field. Outages caused by the semisubmersible drilling rig Ocean Great White, being temporarily off-station following storm damage, will impact the timing of production wells later in the year.
At the non-operated Jade field in the J-block in the central UK North Sea, work continued to address productivity issues affecting the J13 well.
