SCHIEDAM, the Netherlands– Statoil has awarded SBM Offshore a turnkey contract for the Johan Castberg FPSO turret mooring system.
The company received notice from Statoil to proceed with engineering, procurement, and construction work scope for a large-scale turret mooring system. SBM also delivered the front-end engineering and design scope for the mooring system.
The turret is planned to be delivered in modules in early 2020. It will be moored in about 370 m (1,214 ft) water depth in the Barents Sea, and will have a capacity to accommodate 21 risers.
Johan Castberg, 240 km (149 mi) northwest of Hammerfest, will be developed via a large subsea system connected to the FPSO vessel, with 30 wells to be drilled during 2019-24.
