More South Pars platforms near start-up offshore Iran

TEHRAN, Iran – Gas injected into Iran’s national grid is set to increase as two new platforms come onstream this winter at the South Pars Phase 12 development in the Persian Gulf.

Pars Oil and Gas Co. managing director Ali Akbar Shabanpour told news service Shana that whenPhase 12 is fully operational, it will deliver 81 MMcm/d (3 bcf/d) of sweet gas and 120,000 b/d of gas condensate.  

Currently 28 MMcm/d (1 bcf/d) of sour gas produced from platform A is sent to two onshore sweetening units, with more due to be operational over the next few months.

The new South Pars phases 15, 16, and 18 platforms are undergoing nitrogen gas tests.
