ASTRAKHAN, Russia – Russian Maritime Register of Shipping (RS) is assisting preparations for Lukoil’s V.Filanovsky field development in the northern Caspian Sea.

Operations to transport the 10,250-ton central processing platform (CPP) topsides started last week at the sub-assembly site in Ilyinka, Astrakhan. Under Stage 1 the topsides were transferred from a slip to the transport-assembly bargeYury Kuvykin.

The transfer involves using jacks to lift the topsides by 10 m (33 ft) to insert a shipping-assembly frame underneath. A float-over is then performed by ballasting the barge, followed by installations of sea fastenings ahead of transportation.

On May 29, theV. Filanovsky ice-resistant fixed drilling and production platform (IFP 2) was set down at the OOO Galaktika shipyard in Astrakhan. RS is surveying the construction for OOO Lukoil-Nizhnevolzhskneft.

IFP 2 will drill a batch of 15 directional wells: nine will be production wells and six injection wells for field pressure maintenance.

The platform additionally has equipment to provide power and heat supply for the drilling and production facilities and the living quarter platform (LQP 2) life-support system.
