Chevron contracts Hyundai to build Rosebank FPSO

Chevron North Sea has awarded Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) a $1.9-billion contract to build an FPSO for the Rosebank oil and gas field.

ULSAN, South Korea – Chevron North Sea has awarded Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) a $1.9-billion contract to build an FPSO for the Rosebank oil and gas field.

HHI will perform engineering, procurement, and construction for the turret-moored, 99,750-metric ton (109,955-ton) facility, which will be deployed 175 km (109 mi) northwest of the Shetland Islands.

The FPSO, due to be delivered by the end of November 2016, will have production capacity for 100,000 b/d of oil and 190 MMcf/d (5 MMcm/d) of natural gas, with oil storage capacity of 1.05 MMbbl.

It will be 292 m (958 ft) long, 57 m (187 ft) wide and 30 m (98 ft) deep, and will be built according to the NORSOK standard, applicable to offshore facilities operating in the harsh North Sea environment.
