MOSCOW – A transport and installation barge (TIB) has arrived at the Astrakhan floating depot at the northern coast of the Caspian Sea. LUKOIL has commissioned the vessel for construction of platforms at the offshore Vladimir Filanovsky field development in the Russian sector.
The TIB, with a 400-ton capacity crane, will be used to mount piles to substructures of the platforms; to install interconnecting bridges; and, eventually, to install the topsides of the drilling platform (IRP-1), central processing platform (CPP), living quarters module (LQP-1), and riser block (RB). Next month, the schedule starts with placement of the platform substructures.
The T-shaped barge is 140.3 m (460.3 ft) long and 62.3 m (204 ft) wide. It can accommodate loads of 13,450 tons. It comprises two main pontoons and two additional pontoons (outriggers) for an increased load capacity and vessel stability while transporting over-tonnage and oversized cargo, i.e. the IRP-1 and CPP topsides.
