WADDINXVEEN, the Netherlands – SBM Offshore has contracted Doedijns to provide part of the rigless intervention system (RIS) for the Shell-operated BC-10 FPSO offshore Brazil.
TheBC-10 development in the Campos basin implemented a new method of subsea separation and boosting, which employs vertical caisson separators with electrical submersible pumps (ESPs). If the pumps fail, the existing solution is to bring in a conventional drilling rig to perform the intervention operation.
The new RIS should simplify replacement of worn or failed caisson-based artificial lift systems deployed in the field, Doedijns says. The entire ESP/caisson assembly will be recovered to the surface and landed out in an intervention facility. The RIS module will be located portside aft of the FPSO.
Doedijns’ scope comprises the complete hydraulic drive and control system and the skidding system, which are all ABS-certified.
