Offshore staff
STOCKHOLM, Sweden – Lundin Petroleum says the Edvard Grieg field development in the central Norwegian North Sea is on track to start up during 4Q 2015, following offshore hookup and commissioning.
In April,Kværner completed construction of the topsides. Onshore commissioning of the topsides is also complete with Heerema’s heavy-lift vessel Thialf due to perform mating offshore to the pre-installed jacket by mid-year.
The newbuild flotelSafe Boreas, which will assist the offshore commissioning, has arrived in Norway.
Edvard Grieg’s 94-km (58.4-mi) offshore gas pipeline was installed in 2014 and the 43-km (26.7-mi) oil pipeline to the Grane oil export system was laid earlier this year.
The jackupRowan Viking continues development drilling.
Following last year’s successful appraisal well on the southeastern part ofEdvard Grieg, which encountered moderate/good reservoir quality sandstone, Lundin plans a second appraisal well this year on the southern part of the field to improve understanding of the distribution of this sandstone. This has the potential to increase gross reserves by up to 50 MMboe.
Det norske oljeselskap, operator of the Ivar Aasen project in the same region, plans first oil in 4Q 2016.
Construction of the platform topsides is around 60% complete. Key equipment has arrived at the site in Singapore and piping fabrication and installation continues.
Detailed engineering will be completed this summer, followed by sail-away of the topsides in spring 2016.
Recently, Saipem delivered the jacket, which was built at the Arbatax yard in Sardinia.
Following load-out in late March, the jacket has arrived in Rotterdam and should be installed at theIvar Aasen field location by mid-year.
