TEHRAN, Iran – A Singaporean oil tanker struck a jacket of a Phase 13 platform on the South Pars field in the Persian Gulf late last month.
The platform personnel were unharmed, according to news service Shana. Operator Pars Oil and Gas Co. is investigating the area around the platform for possible leaks.
Phase 13 is designed to produce 50 MMcm/d (1.77 bcf/d) of gas, 80,000 b/d of gas condensate, and 400 tons/d of sulfur.
Iranian Offshore Oil Co. plans to add five platforms to three oil fields in the Persian Gulf over the next 12 months. Iranian Offshore Engineering and Construction Co. will install two platforms on theForouzan field, platform 1S on the Lavan field, and platforms 20A and 21A on the Abouzar field.
In the Iranian sector of the Caspian Sea,Khazar Exploration and Production Co. has completed tests on the BOP of the semisubmersible Amir Kabir ahead of exploration drilling.
The 13-m (42-ft) high, 200 ton-plus BOP is designed for deepwater operations.
