LYSAKER, Norway — Aker BP has withdrawn its development plan for the Troldhaugen project in the North Sea.
This formed part of four new regional schemes, which the company submitted plans for last December to Norway’s Ministry of Petroleum and Energy.
Troldhaugen, a $500 million subsea tieback to the Edvard Grieg platform in the Utsira High region, represented about 4% of the 730 MMboe of net estimated resources in these area developments.
Sanction for the project depended on the performance of an extended well test that had been producing from the Rolvsnes fractured basement discovery since August 2021.
However, experience from the test has resulted in a reduction in the originally anticipated expected recoverable volumes of about 30 MMboe. As a result, the partners no longer consider the development to be sufficiently viable, Aker BP said.
Two other planned tiebacks in the Utsira High Project—Solveig Phase 2 to Edvard Grieg, and Symra (ex-Lille Prinsen) to the Ivar Aasen platform—are unaffected by the decision.
