SOUTHBANK, Australia — Karoon Energy has issued an update on its field development programs in the Santos Basin offshore Brazil.
The Noble Developer semisub has drilled and completed two Patola Field wells, PAT-1 and PAT-2, with subsea christmas trees now installed on each wellhead.
Installation of the remaining subsea infrastructure, including a pipeline and umbilicals from Patola to the Cidade de Itajaí FPSO, should start shortly, following the arrival of the pipelay vessel. The wells will then be connected to riser slots on the platform.
Modifications are underway to the FPSO pipework to tie the wells into the main production stream, and first production should flow from Patola by the end of the first quarter, building to a peak of 10,000 bbl/d of oil.
However, the final intervention on the Baúna Field, reopening a lower zone in the BAN-1 well that had previously been in production, has been deferred. This will be performed using either the Noble Developer or potentially a different intervention vessel.
Drilling has started on Neon-1, the first of up to two control wells on the Neon oil discovery. These wells should reduce uncertainty on the resource estimates ahead of a potential field development of Neon.
