SAN DONATO MILANESE, Italy— Eni subsidiary Enimed has awarded Saipem a Eur300 million (US$306.81 million) contract for a gas field development offshore Sicily, Italy.
Saipem will be responsible for transportation and Installation of an offshore gas pipeline connecting the four wells at the Argo and Cassiopea offshore fields to the Sicilian coast.
The Castorone and Castor 10 vessels will lay the 60-km, 14-inch gas pipeline in water depths of up to 660 m. The Saipem 3000 will install umbilicals connecting Cassiopea’s wells to the Prezioso platform.
According to Saipem, the Cassiopea project will strengthen Itay’s gas supply security, which has weakened following recent geopolitical developments.
