INPEX has named Heerema Marine Contractors its contractor of choice for the transport and installation of the 4,800-metric ton Ichthys LNG booster compression module.
This will be added to the Ichthys Explorer central processing facility under the Ichthys LNG Phase 2 development offshore northwest Australia, extending the Ichthys field’s production plateau.
Heerema’s crane vessel Sleipnir will transport the module from the fabrication yard on Batam Island in Indonesia to the Ichthys field center, installing it in a single lift.
The Sleipnir’s 20,000-metric ton (22,046-ton) lifting capacity and single-lift capability allows the design of the module to be optimized, Heerema said, reducing the time needed for the platform shutdown, offshore installation, and hookup.
