LEIDSCHENDAM, the Netherlands – Saipem has contracted Fugro for monitoring services to support the LNG jetty construction for the Greater Tortue Ahmeyim gas-condensate project offshore Senegal/Mauritania.
Fugro expects to start the six-month program in December, deploying its InclinoCam vision technology from a jackup barge to install more than 190 piles.
InclinoCam will use the geo-data to position the monopiles at the exact location, to within 1 cm, providing continuous verticality measurements via machine-vision cameras and visual object recognition algorithms.
Using vision technology to install the piles for the jetty should improve safety, Fugro said, by lessening the need for human intervention, also improving efficiency by providing real-time inclination measurements that can be taken without having to pause piling operations.
