DALLAS – Kosmos Energy and its partners have initiated the second phase of an electrical submersible pump program offshore Equatorial Guinea, according to the company’s latest results statement.
They have also approved an infrastructure enhancement campaign to increase operational uptime across the assets, with a three-well infill drilling campaign due to start in 2Q.
To the northwest off Mauritania and Senegal, Phase 1 of the BP-operated Greater Tortue Ahmeyim project was around 50% complete by the end of last year and remains on track for first gas in the first half of 2023.
The strong progress means that Phase 2 is advancing toward a final investment decision at the end of 2022. BP and Kosmos are working with the two countries’ national oil companies on a more capital-efficient scheme using Phase 1 infrastructure.
In the US Gulf of Mexico, Kosmos expects the Kodiak-2 well to begin production in March. And following good results from last year’s Tornado-4 water injection well, the operator plans a further infill well in mid-2021.
