STAVANGER, Norway – Equinor has awarded contracts for concept studies to progress the proposed Wisting oil field development in the Hoop area of the Barents Sea.
According to Trond Bokn, acting senior vice president for project development in Equinor, the partners are assessing a floating production unit based on a circular FPSO. A final concept selection is targeted for 2Q 2021, with an investment decision planned for the end of 2022.
For the FPSO the company has contracted Aker Solutions, KBR Ltd., Sevan SSP, and Aibel.
For the subsea production and processing equipment, umbilical, risers and flowlines it has contracted Aker Solutions, TechnipFMC, OneSubsea Processing, IKM Ocean Design, and Kongsberg Maritime.
In 2019, the authorities approved a transfer of the Wisting operatorship to Equinor in the development phase, while OMV will resume operatorship in the production phase.
License partners in PL 537 are Equinor (35%), OMV (Norge) AS (25%), Petoro AS (20%), and Idemitsu Petroleum Norge AS (20%).
Discovered in 2013, Wisting contains an estimated 440 MMboe.
