OSLO, Norway – BW Energy is working on an alternative development plan for the Hibiscus/Ruche discoveries in the Dussafu Marin concession offshore Gabon.
This would involve a converted jackup instead of building and installing a new wellhead platform.
According to the company, the conversion concept would lower capex, time to first oil, and lead to a reduction in related climate gas emissions through re-use of existing energy infrastructure.
BW added that the alternative plan could reduce the estimated cash break-even oil price for Hibiscus/Ruche phases 1 and 2 to around $25/bbl Brent.
Subject to lifting of COVID-19 restrictions, a final decision could be taken toward year-end.
