LONDON – LOC Group has completed a marine warranty surveyor contract for Qatargas’ North Field expansion project offshore Qatar.
The scope of work included reviewing engineering and procedures for the design, fabrication, load-out, sea transportation, installation, and hookup of the additional living quarter platform and its associated jacket and piles to the existing living quarters facility.
In addition, LOC provided an independent engineering review and assistance for the site-specific assessment and installation of a temporary accommodation jackup, along with vessel assurance.
LOC’s client Rosetti Marino Group supervised construction of the new platform at the N-KOM yard in Ras Laffan, Qatar.
Earlier this year Heerema Marine Contractors’ heavy-lift vessel Aegir collected and installed the various structures at the offshore location.
Dr. Aureliano Schirripa, principal consultant at LOC Group, said: “The project was very challenging because the operations were carried out without interrupting the Qatar gas productions, and involved intense risk assessment workshops by all parties involved.”
