FORNEBU, Norway — Equinor has asked Aker Solutions to perform a feasibility study for the company’s Mongstad Industrial Transformation project in Vestland county, west coast Norway.
This will investigate ways of reducing CO2 emissions from the existing refinery, which receives oil from various fields in the North Sea, and transforming the site into a new low-carbon industry cluster.
Aker Solutions’ scope includes a new greenfield facility to produce blue hydrogen from natural and refinery fuel gas, and carbon capture and export.
Consultants and engineers from the company’s Oslo, Bergen, and Mumbai operations are supporting project execution and aspects such as gasification, CO2 storage, brownfield and integration.
