DNO Norge has discovered oil and gas with the Kjøttkake exploration well made in the northern Norwegian North Sea.
The find, drilled by the semisub Deepsea Yantai in PL1182 S, occurred in Paleocene injectite sandstones of good reservoir quality, with the well intersecting a 41-m oil column and a 9-m gas column.
A subsequent sidetrack drilled horizontally 1,350 m westward along the reservoir in the Sotra formation confirmed the oil column. Initial analysis indicates 39 MMboe to 75 MMboe recoverable.
Kjøttkake is the company’s 10th discovery since 2021 close to infrastructure serving the Equinor-operated Troll-Gjøa area. The others are Røver Nord, Kveikje, Ofelia, Røver Sør, Heisenberg, Carmen, Kyrre, Cuvette and Ringand.
DNO Norge operates PL1182 S in partnership with Aker BP, Concedo and Japex Norge.
Another exploration well (35/6-6) on the Horatio prospect in the North Sea, where the company is a partner, was unsuccessful. Operator OMV Norge has just concluded operations.
