Equinor has proven more gas/condensate close to the Kristin hub in the Norwegian Sea.

Equinor has proven more gas/condensate close to the Kristin hub in the Norwegian Sea.

Development well 6406/2-L-2 H in production license 199, 260 km southwest of Brønnøysund, was drilled by the semisub Transocean Spitsbergen in connection with the Lavrans field, currently undergoing a tieback to the Kristin infrastructure.

Analysis to date suggests 2 MMcmoe  to 4 MMcmoe recoverable, potentially sufficient to be connected to the new facilities dedicated to Lavrans.

According to the Norwegian Offshore Directorate, the well encountered a 30-m gas/condensate column in the lower parts of the Tilje formation in the Lower Jurassic.

It also delivered gas from a sandstone reservoir in the upper parts of the same formation. The well has since been plugged and abandoned.

Transocean Spitsbergen will now continue drilling production well 6406/2-L-2 AY1H in the same location.
