ABERDEEN, UK – Well construction specialist DeltaTek Global has delivered the first deployment of its SeaCure cementing technology.
This was applied to Chevron’s West Wick subsea appraisal well in the UK North Sea, drilled by the semisubmersibleOcean Guardian.
According to DeltaTek, the SeaCure system, which provides stabbed-in, inner string cementing for subsea wells, was run to cement a 30-in. conductor casing.
With no shoe track present, it eliminated the need to perform a dedicated clean-out run prior to drilling starting with a 12¼-in. BHA straight out of the 30-in. float shoe.
Trials of the technology had been completed earlier this year, supported by the Oil & Gas Technology Centre.
