STAVANGER, Norway – A new discovery in block 15/06 offshore Angola is reported by Statoil. The Cabaça South East-2 well, at 470 m (1,542 ft) about 100 km (62 mi) from the coast, successfully appraised the Cabaça South East discovery.
During production tests, the well flowed high quality 34° API degrees oil at rates of about 7,000 b/d. The rates were limited by surface facilities.
Statoil says evaluations indicate that the appraisal well has increased the initial estimate of oil in place for the discovery by 30% and that a second productive hub in the North East area, which will double the expected production of block 15/06, is now a reality.
Eni is the operator and Sonangol holds the concession.
