ADELAIDE, Australia – Wireline logging of the Spar-2 appraisal well in WA-4-R offshore Western Australia confirms 55 m (180 ft) of net gas pay in the Upper Barrow reservoir, says Santos Ltd. The well flowed 58 MMcf/d of gas with 16 bbl per million cubic feet of gas through a 1-in choke.
With the Spar-2 results, Santos says the recoverable resources of the field are expected to exceed earlier predictions of 335 PJ.
The well is 70 km (43 ½ mi) west of Varanus Island in the Carnarvon basin 2 km (1 ¼ mi) from Halyard.
