BG to drill further well in Snorre area

BG Norge has approval from the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate to drill an appraisal well in the North Sea, using the semisub Bredford Dolphin.

OSLO-- BG Norge has approval from the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate to drill an appraisal well in the North Sea, using the semisub Bredford Dolphin. Drilling will start following the completion of operations on a wildcat discovery well 34/5-1 S in the same production license (374 S).

The permit area, awarded under the APA 2005 licensing round, comprises block 34/5 and the southern part of block 34/2. The well will be drilled about 25 km (15.5 mi) northeast of the Statoil-operated Snorre field.

BG Norge is the operator with a 45% interest. The other licensees are Petoro (20%), Wintershall Norge (20%), and Premier Oil Norge (15%).
