The Norwegian Petroleum Directorate has authorized Talisman Energy (TSX:TLM;NYSE:TLM) to drill a wildcat well in the central Norwegian North Sea.

OSLO, Norway – The Norwegian Petroleum Directorate has authorized Talisman Energy (TSX:TLM;NYSE:TLM) to drill a wildcat well in the central Norwegian North Sea.
TheMaersk Giant will drill well 16/10-5 on license PL 568, awarded in February 2011 under Norway’s APA 2010 licensing round. The license area comprises parts of blocks 7/1, 7/2, and 16/10.
The well will be drilled 10 km (6.2 mi) southeast of the 15/12-12 Rev 5 discovery.
