ASHGABAD, Turkmenistan --Dragon Oil has set a new production record of 40,038 b/d of oil from its Cheleken Contract Area fields off Turkmenistan.
This follows completion of the company's seventh development well in 2007, drilled from the Dzheitune (Lam) A platform using the Iran Khazar rig.
Well Dzheitune A/123 had an initial flow rate of 3,284 b/d from the short and long strings, consistent with results from three previous wells in this area.
The rig has since skidded to slot 3 on the platform to drill the Dzheitune A/125 development well, with a target depth of 4,390 m (14,403 ft).
Dragon has also contracted the CIS-1 rig for three further development wells on the Dheitune (Lam) 22 platform, before moving to the Dzheitune (Lam) 28 platform.
