STAVANGER, Norway -- The Norwegian Petroleum Directorate has granted Det Norske Oljeselskap (NOIL) ASA a drilling permit for wellbore 16/1-9. Wellbore 16/1-9 will be drilled from the Bredford Dolphin drilling facility.

The semisubmersible rig comes directly from drilling activity on production license 311. The drilling program for wellbore 16/1-9 includes a wildcat well in production license 001 B.

The area of the license consists of block 16/1, northeast of the 15/3-1 S Gudrun discovery in the central North Sea. Production license 001 B was originally awarded in the first licensing round in 1965 and subsequently carved out in 1999. This is the third well to be drilled in the production license.
