HOUSTON – Harvest Natural Resources has discovered oil in the Dussafu Marin PSC offshore Gabon.
Well Dussafu Ruche Marin-1 (DRM-1) is being drilled by the semisubTransocean Sedneth 701 in 380 ft (116 m) of water. The aim of the exercise was to test the potential of the pre-salt Gamba and Dentale formations.
DRM-1 has reached a vertical depth of 9,953 ft (3,033 m) within the Upper Dentale formation. Log evaluation, pressure data, and samples indicate around 55 ft (16.7 m) of pay in a 90-ft oil (27-m) column within the primary Gamba objective.
Harvest’s forward plans include deepening the well to test Middle and Lower Dentale exploration potential and a side track to appraise the extent of the Gamba oil find.
