Chevron finds more gas in deepwater offshore Australia

Chevron (NYSE: CVX) has another gas discovery in the Exmouth Plateau area of the Carnarvon basin offshore Western Australia.

SAN RAMON, California – Chevron (NYSE: CVX) has another gas discovery in the Exmouth Plateau area of the Carnarvon basin offshore Western Australia.
The Elfin-1 well encountered about 132 ft (40 m) of net gas pay in the upper Mungaroo sands. Elfin-1 was drilled to a TD of 11,909 ft (3,630 m) in 3,570 ft (1,088 m) of water in the WA-268-P permit area, 106 mi (170 km) northwest of Barrow Island.
This was the company’s 21st find off the west coast since mid-2009.
Chevron Australia operates the permit with a 50% interest in partnership with Shell Development Australia and Mobil Australia Resources (25% each).
