Another North Sea drilling contract for Blackford Dolphin

OSLO, NorwayDolphin Drilling has negotiated a third contract this week for its semisubmersible Blackford Dolphin.

After completing exploration wells next year for MPX Sea on the Aragon prospect in the UK northern North Sea and on Spanish Point off western Ireland for Capricorn, the rig will be available to start work on a nine-month program in the UK sector.

Terms for the award have to be ratified, but the value should be around $115 million.

Another of the company’s semis, theBorgland Dolphin, has been cleared for plugging and facilitation of side track drilling at well 35/11-R-12 H Vega Sør in the northern Norwegian North Sea.

Petroleum Safety Authority Norway approved the Statoil-operated program in production license 090C. The operation is expected to take 30 days to complete. Water depth is 368 m (1,207 ft).
