PERTH, Australia – Regulatory body NOPSEMA has proposed that BP modify and re-submit its environment plan for exploration drilling in the Great Australian Bight.
If BP accepts, the revised plan will likely be re-submitted by July 15, at which point NOPSEMA will restart its assessment.
This course of action is said to be a normal part of NOPSEMA’s environment plan assessment process if the plan does not fulfil regulatory requirements for acceptance.
Since the body was established in January 2012, it has turned down 4% of all submitted environment plans.
