MELBOURNE, Australia – The drillship Stena IceMAX has spudded the Bambo-1 exploration well in block A2 offshore The Gambia for operator FAR.
Bambo-1, 85 km (53 mi) offshore and in 930 m (3,051 ft) water depth, should take around 30 days to drill, with a planned depth of around 3,400 m (11,155 ft).
The well will test various vertically stacked targets with prospective resources of 1,118 MMbbl.
These are Bambo (S390 and S400) – two shallower horizons not previously intersected: Soloo (S410 and S440) – an extension of hydrocarbon-bearing reservoirs in the Sangomar oil field offshore Senegal; Soloo Deep (S552 and S562) – two additional horizons, also not previously penetrated.
FAR has a 50% interest in the A2 block, in partnership with PC Gambia, a subsidiary of Petronas.
