STAVANGER, Norway – Equinor has proven more oil and gas in the Tyrihans field in the Norwegian Sea.
An initial review of the results suggests recoverable reserves in the range 19-26 MMboe. Equinor and its partners Total E&P Norge AS and Vår Energi AS consider the find commercial and plan to start production immediately.
The semisubmersible Transocean Norge drilled the exploration well 6407/1-A-3 BH in 288 m (945 ft) of water in production license 073 from subsea template A at Tyrihans North.
It encountered a 43-m (141-ft) gas column and a 15-m (49-ft) oil column in Jurassic reservoir rocks.
This was the sixth exploration well drilled on the Tyrihans field. It was completed in the Åre formation, and will be permanently P&A’d.
The Transocean Norge will now continue drilling the Tyrihans producer well 6407/1-A-3 CH.
