LONDON – Independent Oil and Gas (IOG) has contracted Noble Corp.’s jackup Noble Hans Deul for production drilling in the UK southern North Sea.
The rig will drill the five Phase 1 production wells for IOG’s Core Project – one each at the Blythe and Elgood gas fields and three at the Southwark field. All are in 20-30 m (66-98 ft) of water.
According to IOG, the Hans Deul has a track record of successfully and safely executing wells in the southern gas basin.
Detailed well design is nearing completion ahead of the start of drilling in 1Q 2021. Operations could continue through 2Q 2022, and the contract includes extension options for up to two further wells.
IOG anticipates first gas from the development next summer.
