MOSCOW – Gazprom has discovered gas and condensate in the Leningradskoye field in the Kara Sea, west of the Yamal peninsula in northwest Russia.

During testing, the exploratory well flowed at a rate of around 600 cu m/d, suggesting substantial volumes of gas, the company said.

This was Gazprom’s fourth major find on the Yamal peninsula shelf in the Kara Sea over the past two years.

Leningradskoye, within the Leningradsky block, holds estimated recoverable gas resources of 1.9 tcm.

Last year the company proved the offshore Dinkov and Nyarmeyskoye fields, followed by the 75 Years of Victory field discovery earlier this year.

Dinkov and Nyarmeyskoye are respectively in the Rusanovsky and Nyarmeysky blocks, with combined recoverable reserves of around 611 bcm.

The 75 Years of Victory field is part of the Skuratovskaya prospect and is thought to hold 202.4 bcm recoverable.
