OSLO, Norway – DNO North Sea will drill its first well on Norwegian Sea license PL888, after securing approval from the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate.
Island Drilling’s semisubmersible Island Innovator will drill appraisal well 6507/7-16 S, 3 km (1.86 mi) west of the Heidrun field and 250 km (155 mi) north of Kristiansund.
Other partners are Wellesley Petroleum and Conoco Phillips Skandinavia.
The license was awarded in February 2017.
In August, Cairn Energy subsidiary Capricorn Norge issued an LOI for the Island Innovator to drill a well on the Duncan prospect in North Sea block 35/8.
