QatarEnergy has agreed to farm into 40% of two ultradeepwater exploration blocks held by Exxon Mobil in the Mediterranean Sea offshore Egypt.

DOHA, QatarQatarEnergy has agreed to farm into 40% of two ultradeepwater exploration blocks held by Exxon Mobil in the Mediterranean Sea offshore Egypt.

Subject to government approvals, QatarEnergy will become a partner in the Cairo and Masry exploration blocks, which were awarded to Exxon Mobil in January 2023. They cover an 11,400-sq-m area in water depths of 2,000 m to 3,000 m.

Exxon Mobil will retain a 60% operated interest.
