HOUSTON – Anadarko says its first exploration well has encountered gas in deepwater off Colombia.
The Kronos well encountered 130-230 net ft (39.6-70.1 m) of natural gas pay in the upper objective in the Grand Fuerte block, proving the presence of a working petroleum system and validating geologic and seismic interpretations.
Drilling continues toward a deeper objective. The rig will then relocate to drill the Calasu prospect, 100 mi (161 km) northeast of the Kronos well.
In the Gulf of Mexico, Anadarko has spudded its third appraisal well on theShenandoah field and is preparing to drill another well on its Yeti oil discovery.
